Website to host RERA-related processes on the anvil

Rera website

The Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development has intensified its efforts to implement the mandate under the Real Estate Regulation Authority (RERA) for monitoring the real estate deals in the State.

The website enabling real estate dealers and other stakeholders to register their deals is in advanced stages of preparation and it will be launched soon. The department had given the task of hosting the website to private players experienced in the area through process of outsourcing. “We want to ensure quality work. We wanted the website to be designed on the lines of the passport process to ensure hassle-free registration and other processes involved,” MAUD Principal Secretary Navin Mittal said.

He said that the department was awaiting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s nod to designate the Municipal Administration secretary as nodal officer under the RERA. A file had been put up for the Chief Minister’s assent. “Notification in this direction will be issued soon. We have decided to complete the balance work pertaining to the RERA to ensure that implementation is not affected,” he said.

According to the Real Estate Regulation Authority rules, the Government should appoint a selection committee comprising the Chief Justice of High Court or his nominee and secretaries of Municipal Administration and Law departments as members of the authority. A similar committee should also be constituted for appointing the chairman and members of the Real Estate Tribunal.

Since the process was expected to take time, the department had decided to seek the permission of the Chief Minister for designating the Municipal Administration secretary as the authority to receive and scrutinize the applications from prospective entrepreneurs. “The file is pending with the Chief Minister owing to some confusion,” a senior official said. The department, according to sources, is said to be engaged in working out modalities for constitution of a town planning tribunal. The process is in final stages and the tribunal would be notified soon.
