Pune: The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) is considering bringing real estate websites under the ambit of RERA.
The state regulator is seeking a legal review of such a move, which is being considered following requests by consumer bodies. “Portals are real estate agents as they facilitate
the sale or purchase of projects on behalf of any person and hence, are liable to register themselves as real estate agents,” said Shirish Deshpande, chairman of Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP).
MahaRERA secretary Vasant Prabhu told TOI that they will assess the legalities before taking a decision. “We will have to see whether they fit under the Act as agents. Once we are sure, we will take necessary action,” Prabhu said.
