PANAJI: Minister for Law and Judiciary Francis D’Souza, on Thursday, said that around 150 builders and real estate agents in the state have applied for registration on Goa’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) portal up till March 23, 2018, which was the deadline for doing so.
“Now, the remaining ones will have to pay the fine of Rs 50,000 and get themselves registered under RERA by March 31, 2018,” he added. Interacting with the pressmen, at the state Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters, D’Souza said that although approximately 150 builders and real estate agents have applied on the portal, not all of them would be registered. “The clearance would be given for their registration only after the scrutiny,” he added.
Earlier, D’Souza met the party workers at the BJP headquarters to understand their problems.
Speaking further, the Minister for Law and Judiciary said that even though the government has enacted the Goa (Abolition of Proprietorship, Titles and Grants of Lands) Act 2014 for finding a solution to the Mayem evacuee property, the matter is sub-judice and hence could take some time to get sorted out.“As of now, the North Goa Collector has been asked to issue provisional Sanads to all the verified residents of the Mayem village, however, these Sanads only indicate about the possession of the particular land and nothing else,” D’Souza stated, maintaining that many of the residents of the Mayem village have extended their residences either by adding rooms or floors, and therefore, the issue has become complex, with related cases filed against them in the court of law by the landlord holding the proprietary rights.
